The Hits Between The Hits

The History of Radio ID Jingles

By Don Worsham

Corrections and Addendum:

Chapter 13. CRC  and PAMS : 1958

Add: Jim Wells wrote portions of  PAMS Series #6 along with Euel Box. Well's unique, rich, vocal harmonies are heard on several of the series cuts.

46. 1970s: Drake and AIR , Joe Cuff   Starts, TM   Grows and Dick Hamilton   Emerges

Page 210: In 1974 Tom Merriman   was asked by WOOD   to produce a sound alike to Hamilton's package for WIBC in Indianapolis. In spite of several TM   attempts to copy the Hamilton style of the WIBC custom, none were acceptable. (Dick Hamilton 8-19-1995) Jim Long   resorted to hiring Hamilton to do the copy. According to Long, there was no reason not to go to the "original" for the copy. References to an earlier WOOD custom by Hamilton called "Good Feelings" are incorrect. Jim Long recalled "We did Good Feelings 1 for WFAA ... Around 73-74. It contained several rip-offs of Hamilton –Heller songs, but Dick did NOT write it. Clark Gassman and Tom wrote it. All of it was recorded in LA including many members of the Jazz Crusaders and the Sid Sharp strings. The moog was played by Paul Beaver." (December 19, 2004)

Chapter 47. 1970s: Jon Wolfert , C-21 , Dick Starr , Jodie Lyons and PARMA PRODUCTIONS

Page 216 : A burst of new TOTAL SOUND   PARMA PRODUCTIONS packages started in 1976 with the creation of "Starflow ." The package was demonstrated with KHJ  call letters.

Chapter   48. Pepper Tanner, WBT , Thunder Productions, The Sundance Organization and Chris Kershaw

Ken Justiss : Page 220   Jon Wolfert has pointed out that in 1974, Ken was much to busy at TM for any free-lance engineering at Sundance. Zak Hernandez was the source of the original information.
